The Grass is Greener When You Are Lying Down

A meditation on green: make a series of small experimental compositions in watercolour, gouache and mixed media

In June the Prairie Garden is just beginning to grow into itself, with a sense of emergence, of burgeoning growth. To really see it, let’s get close up, lie down, be like a caterpillar! So many different shades of green, textures of leaves, interlacing. On this creative workshop you will be experimenting with making marks and simple compositions around the theme green; all the subtleties of tone, changes of direction, movement, stages of growth. Daubs of colour, painting with fingers, homemade tools and natural materials.

Lying down (if weather allows), getting close to the earth, seeing the world from a different perspective. There will be a short meditation each day, immersed in the garden, to experience the space with all of your senses. The emphasis will be on play and experimentation. You will create a beautiful collection of small expressive abstract compositions over the 2 days. Artists for inspiration: Bonnard, Vuillard, Van Gogh, Monet, Adrien Berg, Ivo Hitchens, Mary Newcombe
