Painting Autumn Colour in the Garden

  • Sussex Prairie Gardens Wheatsheaf Road Henfield, England, BN5 9AT United Kingdom (map)

Immerse yourself in the Prairie Gardens at their best, in the height of their growth, as the seed heads are starting to form and the autumn colour is at its most vibrant. Spend two whole days getting to know the garden through coloured studies and paint.

You will be guided through colour warm ups and meditation exercises to awaken your senses. Looking and listening, responding to the sounds and natural rhythms of the garden. You will be encouraged to make expressive studies and paintings by building up layers of colour and allowing your work to change and grow. Making plenty of studies on paper, you can experiment freely with materials. You can choose to stay on paper, or use canvas/board for painting, in acrylic or oils. You will be encouraged to keep the experimental approach in either. You can expect to go home with plenty of inspiration to work from and propagate your ideas after the course.

Cost: £190 includes garden entry fee, tuition, refreshments. Some materials (paper, pastels etc will be provided; you will be expected to bring your own paints)

"It is amazing the marks that just appear. I have a yearning to paint dancing trees. I love the wind inviting  the branches to dance together. The different moves. Fascinating. Exciting." GLEN - Drawing and Meditation 2024
